To make a long story short, I just moved back home from Washington and am currently living with my grandparents. The other day she mentioned they were involved with a "debt consolidation" program and that immediately put up a HUGE red flag. I gathered all of her paper work and did some research on the company and sure enough, like almost every other company out there, they are just like every other rip-off artists out there. I know there may not be much hope of getting back the money they already gave out to them, but what other action can we take on this? I'm extremely livid at this point and just want to do something ASAP. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

A friend of mine is fed-up with debt. However she signed up for help from one of the non-profit debt consolidation companies. I don't know anything about them. The company is called Careone. Does this company have a very good reputation or is it like the other debt consolidation companies.

I had a lot of credit cards when I turned 18 (regreted it) and I did a debt consolidation program (CareOneCredit); I was able to afford min payments, but I wanted one payment and to just pay them off. I figured that program would help. I didn't realize it was a debt management program and would make my credit bad. I currently have no credit cards, but I do still have a car payment. I tried applying for a credit card now that it has been 3 years of me paying (I am not 23) and know better than to charge everything, I just want to build my credit but I am getting denied. How else can I build it. ***NO SCAMMERS OR BUY A CREDIT REPORT OR ANY OF THAT GARBAGE - I will report you if you send me a scam***

I share a home mortgage of a house that I am not considering to short-sale if I don't find a solution. Recently we have modified the monthly payment with the bank but, the payment is still high due that I do not have any type of income after losing my unemployment benefits due to being placed on bed-rest because I am carrying a high risk pregnancy. I am very behind on my payments, I have been trying my best but I have found myself paying LATE fees every month because I pay as I come up with money, some of my bills are more than a month late and one credit card I can't even make their minimum payment; I tried making arrangements with them but it was an unsuccessful intent. I made a research about the three options I would have to deal with my debts. So, far after learning a little bet of the three, I thought bankruptcy would be my best option because either way my credit history will be damaged, I do not plan on adding the house on the bankruptcy, I have a debt with the state (which I now I have to pay that on my own). I do not know if after the baby is born that I will have an stable income. And if I do, I wonder how far behind on payments I will be. Does any of you have better understanding about those 3 options and if you consider that for my case, bankruptcy is the best option (even though there are 2 types of bankruptcy)??

I am not asking if I should use one. I am well aware of the pro's and con's, and that it is something I can do myself. But why is it so hard to get a list a GOOD/LEGITIMATE companies? I don't need a sermon, I need information.

Can you settle debt with a credit card company even in good standing? I am making minimum payments with a few credit card companies but could have trouble paying these in the future. I don't want to go through a debt consolidation company or a debt settlement company. Is it possible to call on my own and warn them I will file for bankruptcy and ask to settle before I stop paying for 30-90 days like most experts say? Can someone give me their advice or opinion on this? Thanks

I have a charged off credit card debt and its about $691. I do realize I have to pay the amount, trust me I know (I'm doing debt consolidation to help me deal with my debts.) 1. The company is called Creditors Financial Group LLC, I have looked them up online and there are numerous complaints against them. 2. They are making me pay a settlement and I do not have the money right now. I told them I could pay $150 and they told me they won't accept it. I have dealt with debt collectors before and I have NEVER heard of them not being able to take a payment of any sort, I thought they would want to get paid? 3. I told them I would try to get the settlement but, I had to cancel it due to an expense that just recently came up. When I told them I couldn't pay the settlement they told me to take my $150 (which is what I was offering to pay) and get an attorney. Because I will be getting sued. This call is being recorded for quality assurance I'm sure and I have always thought that it is illegal to threaten to sue over the phone, especially over the phone. 4. The amount is about $700 and I have another account with the same creditor that is over $900..If they would try to get me for the $900 I'm sure they would try to get me for the other amount first. I'm doing debt consolidation starting next month to help...Isn't it illegal for them to threaten you? He said something also like "Oh so you rather go shopping than pay your settlement amount? I see you don't care about your finances whatsoever!" How is that even possible when I offered $150 to pay this month? They need to get closed down or get better employees! How am I going shopping? I have never ever felt so threatened before, and I have dealt with debt collectors before! My debt consolidation company told me not to worry about it, they will work with them from now on.. What does this mean?

I have about $3400 in debt I need to get paid off and I have decided to go to CareOne Credit to help me with this . About 2 of my accounts are charged off, and are currently in third-party debt collectors. CareOne credit had said they send out proposals and they do deal with collections agencys as well so i should be just ok with this. One of my debt collectors are dealing with Creditors Finacial group and they are extremely RUDE and just want to make me pay the full amount and threatening to sue me over $700...what should I do? Ever since I made a payment of $50 thats all they say they could take but must take the $227 instead...this is very frustrating. I said I could pay the $50 a month but thats all I could pay. I never heard of a debt collector not willing to take any kind of payments whatsoever. What should I do with this?

Does any one know where i can find a lender to lend me 5000 ish for debt consolidation? I am in the army so i have a steady paycheck. my credit score is 517, im trying to bring it up (i already have by 23 pts) but its hard. if i can bring my payments into one payment around 300 a month my life would improve sooooo much. i have a 8 month daughter and im still married. any input would be great. a high percentage rate will be fine, once i raise my score, and our budget plan falls into place, i will be able to pay the loan off very fast... all input is welcome. thank you.

I've spoken with a few companies and my bills will fall under the 40% rule the air force uses. It is only four items that need to be consolidated. I fell delinquent because I was laid off my job if that helps.

This is definitely something couples should talk about before marriage. (Skip to the end for the question if u don't like to read because this is a long story) I did not do this, now its the only arguments we have ever had in our entire relationship and its taking a toll on me!! No matter I would still have loved him and married him, but it still should be discussed prior too! Here's the story my loving caring perfect for me husband is amazing, but financially he is very irresponsible. I knew he had bills but he failed to fully inform me how bad he was in the hole, when I informed him on the bills I had prior to marriage. I take care of my own bills that i had prior to our marriage and so does he here is the biggest problem. He was in a 3 year relationship before he was with me. In this relationship he was living the marriage life-style without being married, sharing a bank account, credit cards, rent, car etc. etc. He racked up on debt with his x and failed to think hmm what if this doesn't work out its very easy to just walk away we aren't married! Anyway he took out a debt consolidation loan jointly with her to resolve their stupid financial mistakes. They were living beyond their means and it backfired. So of coarse they split and what happens... HELL! They now had to solve what was what! He basically took the bills with his name and she took the ones with hers ignoring the ones they had jointly. So when we start dating she gets angry of coarse because she wants him back and he makes it plainly obvious that he was going to choose me (they weren't together when we met but she was still fighting to get him back he is a really good guy just not financially lol) , so now she is a woman scorned(hell hath no fury). So he then joins the army while in the basic he sent her three checks to pay their debt consolidation loan. I of coarse advise against this reminding him of how hurt and angry she is!! No he didn't listen she took that money paid her rent and went on a vacation to the beach, she went out with a bang and still has him hanging by the neck with this loan or should i say hanging by the balls! He also has a closed (so far overdrawn they said hell no u cant keep this account open) suntrust account with her, that he jointly owned and still jointly owes money on! So when he gets out of basic ait then airborne we get married about a month later. As we are planning for our fairytale love future together we start the topic of bills, the drama with us to now begins...prior to this we had never had a serious argument besides the petty why didn't u call or call back stuff! I basically(during arguing) tell him he needs to take care of it because its going to affect us getting anything such as a house or car later and I feel like he kept a lot of this from me before when we discussed our bills prior to marriage and he left out a lot a whole lot! I don't know if he was embarrassed but I still feel it should have been discussed. So I tell him to call her and all of the bills they share and straighten things out. Results: Citifinancial will not divide the loan but because he explained him trying to pay but his x pocketing the money then being in training he was in a hard place, so they put him in good standing with the account and set him up with decent payments. Then he talked to his x and she said how much she could pay a month. With the suntrust he told her he would get back to her but when he tried she didn't answer its been 4 days since he talked to her and she has yet to answer so i went on her facebook its public so any1 can see (i love facebook) and her status read " i wonder if i don't respond for 2 days... will he get the point." this was written yesterday. So me knowing how an angry woman can be i don't believe she is going to pay without legal action. Here are my questions: - Is this a matter for small claims court? -Am I wrong for telling him I want to be in charge of paying all the bills, and I will come to him every time one of us gets paid and tell him what I will be paying, but I will be the one physically in charge of doing it? I think he feels emasculated by me saying I don't think he can handle the bills! -Was I wrong for opening a joint savings account for both of us to put money into ( he didn't know it was going to be joint he thought it was going to be for me but he put money in it also. then he open a checking with the same bank later, even though he said he wanted to do it he felt i should have at least let him know) -How does my husband file against her? (requesting her to pay half of the loan minus any bills or purchases that are proven to be his) -what would be the best evidence to bring to court? - what if she is ordered to pay at court but time goes by and she still hasn't paid? how long is she given to pay it? -do u think taking her to court as I have been suggesting for the past 2 months is a http://www.OnlineBusinessMall.com- website did not help whatsoever lol but thanks for trying http://carekorner.com same as other website no help but again thanks http://www.lifeplanz.com/ lol i don't need a job i need my questions answered

I have credit card debt and am looking for a debt consolidation company that I could do business with. I'm looking for the best rated company. Having an excellent rating with the Better Business Bureau would be a plus. Thanks.

Lots of people are consolidating there debt and doing loan settlements. These have a negative affect on your credit. How long after it is all paid off and you are back to making on time payments; does it take to get good credit again?

Me -about 30k cc debt, all charged off for about 3 years now. The plan was to save up, negotiate myself, and pay off, but I only make about 35k/yr, and pretty much need all of it to survive here in this God forsaken city (L.A.). I've researched my options for years, not interested in any of the "consolidation companies." I'm on the verge of filing Ch.7, because I really see no other way, as it could literally take me 10 yrs to save up enough to pay, and my credit would still be ruined. I'm hoping to hear from some folks who have filed in the past. A friend of mine filed about 10 years ago, and she says she was getting secured cc offers after about the 1st year after discharge, and after about 3 years, she had rebuilt her score to a decent level. Of course the BK shows for 10 years, but if you can get your score back up in a few years, this would clearly be the way to go. Anyone have experience with coming out of a BK, and was it the right thing to do? Thanks so much.

is it better to consolidate $15000. or do a debt settlement threw curia debt? Im already late and sent to collections anyways. Was out of a job for several months. I have a new job. Make about 31000.00 So with my credit already looking bad and behind in payments, what is the best way to go? So is one less negitive as far as a credit score goes? Will I recover from the negitive mark on my credit faster doing one or the other? How long does it take to recover my credit score after I use one of these and start over?

About three months ago I was contacted by creditor, Global Acceptance, for a secondary student loan (not a government loan such as Sallie Mae) and they attempted to collect on a debt that I didn't have a lot of recollection about. The she offer me a settlement of $2,000 of a $5,000 (and some change) loan. If I HAD $2,000 I wouldn't be up 5:15 am asking this question. She told me that I was making payments before but stop. I don't EVER recall making a payment to this company unless it was through Care One the debt consolidation program I was working with but could no longer afford because I wasn't bringing in any money (still not bringing in any money). She asked if I could send her any form of payment...I told her I will rearrange my budget and see what I can do. She told me she will send me out the payment form letter before it went into the hands of Attorney...Well the next letter that I received was not a repayment letter but a warrant to appear in court to collect a debt. My question is can I have this disputed before I head to court next month? I do not remember this loan at all...The only loan that I should have from the school that I attended should be my Sallie Mae loan (which is deferred at the time because I have continued my schooling). Can I send the attorney's office a dispute letter? Global Acceptance a collection company...It doesn't even say who the original Loan is from! I'm not trying to cheat the systems. If I had the money to pay the debt I would but I don't. I do admit going to the school but remember signing for a Sallie Mae loan plus another loan. What should I do? OK, I have made some big mistakes with my finances over the past several years. I have 4 credit cards with a total of almost 13k. I'm wondering what the best option is to get rid of them. Should I try to get an unsecured loan?? Should I contact one of the credit consolidation companies?? I'm so stressed out and in a tight bind due to interest rates around 25% on one and 23% on another. WHAT DO I DO????

Hey. I had this idea that my parents could take a parent PLUS loan out and I later assume that debt from them. I read this on there "FAQ" website. Can the parent's PLUS Loan be transferred to the student so that it becomes the student's responsibility to repay? No. A PLUS Loan made to the parent cannot be transferred to the student. The parent is responsible for repaying the PLUS Loan. So, my question is if after I am done with my schooling, is there a way to assume that debt from them? Do I need to get a loan to pay for it or when I do a consolidation loan would that work? I am assuming what they mean by that is that like ONCE they get it they cannot transfer it to me. Or they can't transfer the actual loan. But I was thinking more along the lines of me actually getting a loan to pay off that loan. Or, do you think it would just be a better idea to pay my parents like XXX dollars a month after I graduate? Forgot to mention. The reason I am trying to do this is because it has a fixed interest rate and also worse case scenario they will extend my Stafford Loan availability. However, I am still very much interested in finding another way, as well as my parents.

ok so i have 3 credit cards, all almost maxed out & with all of the interest, & my payments it seems like they are never getting payed off. i recently read up on debt consolidation. my debt all together is almost, but not quite 5,000$ i only work part-time right now so it's been tough. i learnt my lesson. but i just need an easier method of paying it off. with getting a consolidation loan, does that mean the bank pays off my credit cards & then i owe the bank with one set interest rate/minimum payment/etc ? but does this mean they take away my credit cards ? i will be getting rid of 2 of them once paid off, but i have to keep one as i have bills come off of that one ,, ? because if they cancel all my cards, i cannot do that. i can afford the bills that come off no problem. they are just one 50$ , & one 70$ once a month. i got everything out of control. i just need help getting it back under control so i can move on. also, wouldn't keeping one card open help me build that credit back up ? since i would only be making 2 things on it once a month & paying it right off ? someone please tell me how this works ?!

Hello, Some years ago a family member got me into debt by using my credit cards without me knowing. I have asked for them to be paid but that has not and is not going to be done. As of right now I am in debt, I own close to 20,000 which I can't afford to pay. As I see it I have two choices. One declare bankruptcy or consolidate them. Since I don't own a home and don't plan to in a while I was going with the first choice. Some of the companies have already gone to court so consolidation companies won't help me with those. I honestly don't know what to do. My credit had always been something I watched well and I want to get it that way again but I just can't pay all that money. Any info would be a great help. Thank you

I've been in sky-high debts for the past 5 years. A friend referred me to try checking debt consolidation loans. Will they guarantee me of a debt-free and better life if I'll get one for myself?

I got discharged from a Ch 7 BKPCT about a year ago, however since, I was unwise in letting a TV Cable bill go to collections, and also a cell phone bill. It is not much money -About $1000 between both-, but I don't make enough money to just be able to pay them off right away. And every time I call them (or take their calls), these collection agencies want all the money, or they tend to want to make arrangements that are impossible for me (if I say $100 a month, they say no, how about $100 a week). My objective is to get these worked out ASAP, though I am not sure how to pursue the right course of action, to be able to reasonably pay them off. Nah, their calls don't really bug me, but I do want my credit history to continue to improve. Debt consolidation company? Other options? Any thoughts or ideas out there? Quick Afterthought: Their dirty tactic is (Collection's) "Well if you don't pay it off quickly, the debt may be sold off to some other company, and you might have to start again"... How to deal with that?

I'm set up to go to MEPS in two days. I told my recruiter that I have 12000 in debt in collection but I'm getting debt consolidation but I'm waiting on the collectors to send me verification of the debt to get started. Now my recruiter who's taking me to meps said they won't run my credit till later this year and that I have plenty of time to start paying on it to bring it current. I will need a secret security clearance for my job. Is what he said true?

I have a little less than 10,000 credit card debt that I am trying to get rid of it. I haven't used any of the cards in over a year. It is a total of four cards that rage from 20%-25% in APR. I have never missed a payment or have been late but it seems like I will never pay them off. I always pay more than the minimum payment also. Recently I have been getting alot of offers for credit cards with 10% and 12% APRs. I was wondering if there was a loan that I would be able to get with lower interest rates to pay off those credit cards and close them out, and I just pay the loan off in the amount of time agreed. For example such as an auto loan or home loan where you know you pay a certain amount and in so many years you are done. With these cards it seems like there is no end in sight. I don't have any collateral either. I was wondering if anyone knew of any programs out there that might be able to help me. Here are some other expenses that I have every month. After taxes I bring home $2000-$2300 a month $800 House Note $70 Car insurance $50 Truck Insurance $109 Student Loan Payment $400 Child daycare expenses Capital one Card about $2200.00 owed 22% APR Chase about $1800 owed 21%APR Best Buy Card about $1700 owed 22% Apr Macys Card about $1000 owed 25% Apr Just looking for some advice. Thanks.

I need to borrow £2000 for 2 years on an bad/okish credit rating. Whats the best place to apply for this? I mean, a real company that will lend me money, not some website that searches through 1000 fake providers that just want to find a loan for me for a fee

I finally found my calling to be a rescue swimmer. I never knew about it before and immediately fell in love with the concept. I want this SO **** bad. I'll do anything for it, but I have several things riding against me, but here's what I'm doing to fix things in the hope that all my exhausting efforts will pay off so I can at least get into the Coast Guard. 1.) I'm 26 and about to be 27 in November, so I have a year and half until I'm too old to enlist in the Coast Guard. Nothing I can do about that. :( 2.) I have a GED. So, I've enrolled in college and will have 15 college credits by the end of the year. Then I'll be the same as a high school graduate. This works, because that'll be right around when they start enlisting again. 3.) I have a low-medium credit score of 570 and 11,000 in debt from credit cards years ago. I'm signing up for debt consolidation and if I get enlisted I will have it all paid of before I ship out to boot camp. I swim for 2-4 hours a day, I work out and run every other day. I can already exceed their physical requirements to enlist. I have no medical conditions and no criminal record. I study every day for 2 hours for the ASVAB. I'm so scared they'll say no and my hopes and dreams will be crushed. I'm doing so much just to get in. I talked to a Navy recruiter and they said there's an excellent chance they'll take me for Aircrew and then I can go to their rescue swimmer program, but it's not even the same. Do you think I have any chance? I talk to a Coast Guard recruiter Wednesday.
